SUMMERY OF SOME FAMOUS BOOK  BY JONATHAN SWIFT:-

1.   A TALE  OF TUB [1704]

A TALE OF TUB  was the major satire work written  by Jonathan swift. It was composed between 1694 to 1697 that was eventually published in 1704.It is arguably  his most masterly .The tale is a prose parody. It is a religious allegory perhaps suggested by the work of bunyan. In this story about the three person:-
1.)Peter:- who stands for the Roman Catholic church.
2.)Jack:- who reprsents the Dissenters.
3.)Martin:- who represents the Anglican and Lutheran church.

All the three brothers each representing on of the main branch of western Christianity. A tale was long regard as a satire on religion. The tale present consistent satire of religious excess. The over arching paradoy is of enthusiasm, pride, credulity. At that time it was written about political and religion where still linked very closely in England and than the religious and political aspects of satire hardly separated. These three names stand for 1.)catholic 2.)Lutheran 3.)Calvinists and the way in which the sons evade their father’s will and the fashion of their garments is a part of bitter satire upon all religious church. So the novel is one of the best allegories even by himself. It was a very popular novel.

2.) THE BATTLE OF BOOKS {1704}

The battle of books first not a worthy book. The theme of the book is the dispute between ancient and modern authors. The battle of books is simple mock-heroic. The battle among these resting in the king’s library at st.james’s  place. Sometimes the battle called the ancients and the moderns. Swift in his book treat the whole question with a satirical humour. The books that are advocated of the modern take up the matter and dispute the areas between spider and bee. Spider living in the corner of the library as well as bee that got entangled in the spider web. Spider is like the moderns, whose spain their scholastic. Bee is like the ancients, she go to their nature of honey.

3.) THE GENERAL TO STELLA{1710-13}
The general to stella is the series of the letters written in the year between 1710-1713 by Johnathan Swift in London to Esther Johnson and companion Rabecca Dingley in Ireland. Esther but her another name was Stella. Esther was the daughter of the widowed companion of Sir William Temple’s sister. Swift was employed by Sir William was Stella’s tutor when she was child and he formed lifelong attachment to her. Swift wrote to Stella about current political and social events.
Esther Johnson is interesting to us for two reasons:-
1.)          An excellent commentary on contemporary character and political events.
2.)          In it’s love passage and purely personal description it gives a best picture we posses of Swift himself.
Swift was given her nickname “Stella”. Swift the two maintained a close ambiguous relationship for the rest of the Esther’s life.

4). DRAPIER’S   LETTER ( 1724-1725):-

Drapier’s letter   is the collective name for the series of seven pamphlets written   between 1724 to 1725 in  Dublin. swift  represent the Ireland constitutionally and financially independent  of Britain in the DRAPIER’S LATTER. This novel a  model of political harangue and of the popular argument
Which an unthinking English public and did much benefit to Ireland.
The first complete of the DREPIER’S LETTER and in appeared in the1734.Today this novel are an important part of the swift political  writings. Swift was believed to be of inferior quality. Swift was later honored for this service the people of Ireland.
Swift he is actually appealing to what he may and may not have done’
“ OUR  IRISH COPPER FARTHEN DEAN”
And this line is direct connected to ending the controversy stuck.

5). GULLIVER TRAVELS (1726):-

Gulliver travels was begun in 1920 and finally published in 1726. Gulliver  is famous of the all works of the swift .The full title of swift famous work is :
“TRAVELS IN THE SEVERAL REMOTE OF THE WORD IN FOUR PARTS BY LAMUEL GULLIVERS FIRES SERGEON AND THEN A CAPTAIN OF SEVERAL SHIPS “

The book is written in the form of a travelogue.

=THIS BOOK DIVIDED IN TO THE FOUR PARTS:-

PART -1:-LILIPUT
Describes Gullivers  voyage to country known as Liliput and his experience in that country.
In this part religious and political division are mingled.
In this part all people are Tiny and Gulliver was a big one in that country.

2).BROBDINGNAG

Describes   his voyage to Brobdingnag  and  his experience all about in this part
Swift shows us the people of immense stature.
Liliput was a land of inhabited by pigmies or dwarfs.
⇨Brobdingnag is the land of  giants or of person
     Of an immense stature.

⇨ 3) LAPUTA
.

⇨ Deals with his voyage to some countries like Laputa, Glubdubrib, Balnibaribi, Luggnagg ,and japan.  In  this part the abused of science are the aim of satire

⇨4).HOUYHNHNMS:-

⇨Tells about his voyage to the country of Houyhnhnms  and the yahoos .
⇨ This voyage  represent mankind in a satire is too exaggerated.
⇨The Houyhnhnms do not appeal to us as model of perfection.

⇨6) MODEST PROPOSAL :-

⇨’A MODEST PROPOSAL ‘ written  by Jonathan Swift  in 1729.swift clarify this is satire and thus he is using the symbol and present theme. He wishes to discuss about the not seriously advocating this demise of children. Swift discuss in MODEST PROPOSAL .The narrator  of this novel is very cold and rational his early description of the poverty. This  narration is key to the satire and irony. He belives in the cycle of poverty and thus their children remains poor and  thus useless to their socity and then it what happened in socity? children be put to use.

He is also suggest that are not necessarily the   victims .A modest proposal is very short satire, I would humble advice to have the first time read of this text so to go over it ,twice fully  and appreciate the humor language and Brilliant satire of “A modest proposal “

⇨CONCLUSION:-
